I’m hoping that the women reading this article will pay attention to the information because they might come into contact with this disease at some point in their lives. Paget’s Disease is a serious bone disease that many of you will have heard of, but many of you will not have heard of Paget’s Disease of the Breast.
The condition can be challenging to diagnose because it resembles other skin conditions like eczema or dermatitis. However, this condition typically affects the nipple first before spreading to the areola, whereas other skin conditions typically affect the surrounding areas first before affecting the nipple.
The person with the disease requested that you pass this word on to all the women in your life, including mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, and friends. I have been asked to put the following in this post; it is drawn from an actual situation.
“A woman experienced a rash on her breast that resembled that of nursing young mothers. Her mammogram had come back clear, so the doctor gave her medication to fight infections.
Her doctor ordered a third mammography when it got worse despite two treatments, and this time it revealed a lump.
An aggressive cancer was discovered through biopsy. To reduce the growth, chemotherapy was first administered. This was followed by a mastectomy, a full course of chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.
She received intensive treatment for nearly nine months before being declared well. She has one year to make the most of each day. Then the malignancy returned to the liver area. After receiving four treatments, she made the decision that she preferred quality of life to chemotherapy’s side effects.
She had five wonderful months, and she meticulously planned out the last few days.
She drifted away after only a few days of requiring morphine, declaring that she had accomplished the mission that God had given her.
PLEASE be on the lookout for anything unusual.
Paget’s disease is an uncommon type of breast cancer that develops on the areola, nipple, and exterior of the breast. It started off as a rash and later developed into a lesion with a crusty edge. I never would have guessed that it was breast cancer, but it was. My nipple never seemed odd to me, but I went to the doctor since the rash upset me. Even though it occasionally itched and hurt, I wasn’t bothered by it.
They appeared to be a little worried. Mine began as a solitary crimson papule on the areola. The fact that the symptoms of Paget’s disease of the nipple seem to be unimportant is one of the main issues. It is usually misdiagnosed as a skin infection or inflammation, which causes unfortunate delays in treatment.
What signs are present? The signs consist of:
Your nipple’s persistent redness, leaking, and crusting, which makes it itch and burn. (As I mentioned, mine didn’t itch or burn much, and there wasn’t any seeping that I could see, but it did have a crust around one side’s outside border.)
A nipple pain that won’t go away. (Mine was on the areola area and had a thick, yellowish patch in the middle of the nipple.)
In most cases, just one nipple is impacted. How is it identified? Your doctor will conduct a physical examination and should advise scheduling an emergency mammography of both breasts.
Even if the sore only affects one breast, your doctor should be concerned about cancer even though the redness, seeping, and crusting closely mimic dermatitis (skin inflammation). To determine what is causing your sore, your doctor should request a biopsy.
This message should be taken seriously, so please share it with as many of your family and friends as you can.
As a result of getting high doses of chemotherapy, twenty-eight radiation sessions, and taking Tamaxofin, my breast cancer has metastasized to my bones.
Perhaps the spread would have been prevented if this had been identified as breast cancer at the outset.
TO EVERY READER:
The fact that ladies are unaware of Paget’s illness is terrible.
For heavens sake, schedule an appointment to see a doctor right away if you have any doubts about any medical issue. As we all know, early diagnosis is crucial for many types of ailments.
